MP to have welfare board for drivers and conductors

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced constitution of a 'Driver-Conductor Welfare Board', and several other measures for the drivers and conductors of private bus companies.
"Driver-Conductor Welfare Board will be constituted with a corpus of Rs 10 crore," Chouhan said at 'Driver-Conductor Panchayat' held at his official residence here.
He said that minimum wages for drivers and conductors will be fixed, and they will be registered through the board.
Chouhan also announced an annual award of Rs one lakh for the best driver and conductor, to be called "Saarthi-shri", on the occasion.
The registered drivers and conductors would be provided wheat and rice at Rs 1 per kg.

They would get insurance cover upto Rs 1 lakh, financial aid for children's education, medical facilities at the government hospitals. Vehicle training centres would be set up for their skill development.
