The Madhya Pradesh State Waqf Tribunal has stayed the district administration's order allowing some Hindu organisations to perform rituals at the Old Waqf Idgah land at Mandideep in neighbouring Raisen district.
The Idgah management under the state Waqf Board had recently approached the Tribunal against the local administration's order granting permission to some organisations to perform rituals at the Idgah land from May 29 to June 6.
"After hearing both sides, the tribunal Judge Iqbal Ahmad termed the local administration order to perform Yagya at the Waqf Idgah land as against the law and stayed it", said a press release issued here today jointly by Ibrahim Qureshi, ex-chairman of Madhya Pradesh Minority Commission, and local Waqf Committee president Suhail Khan.
The judge in his order directed the administration to provide proper security at the site to prevent any untoward incident from happening, the release said.
"We have apprised Governor Ram Naresh Yadav, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Bhopal Division Commissioner about the Waqf tribunal order and requested them to implement the said order", the release said.
Madhya Pradesh State Waqf Board is a statutory body constituted by the Government of Madhya Pradesh Under Section 14 of the Waqf Act 1995. Waqf is an Islamic endowment of property to be held in trust and used for a charitable or religious purpose.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Vipin Bhargav of the committee overseeing the organisation of the proposed event said the tribunal order will be challenged in high court.
