MPPEB scam accused surrenders before special task force

An Officer on Special Duty (OSD), who is an accused in the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examinations Board (MPPEB) scam, surrendered before the Special Task Force (STF) here today.
O P Shukla was posted as OSD with the then MP Technical Education Minister Laxmikant Sharma.
A senior STF official said Shukla surrendered before the agency probing the scam.
STF had been looking for Shukla for the last two months. It had already questioned the former minister and a mining baron closely associated with ruling BJP on the issue.
After a long probe, STF had registered a case in December 2013 against 130 people including Sharma and Shukla, in the MPPEB scam.

For nabbing Shukla, STF searched his premises but in vain, the officer said, adding he had allegedly taken Rs 85 lakh from students for clearing the Pre-Medical Test.
Opposition Congress has been insisting on handing over the probe to CBI.
