Following requests for generous contributions by many MPs, the Rajya Sabha Secretariat was asked by Chairman Hamid Ansari to inform them of the guidelines under MPLAD scheme for recommending the permissible works.
Rajya Sabha Secretary General Shamsher K Sharif has informed members that any of them "can now recommend works up to a maximum of Rs 50 lakh for the affected districts" out of the MPLADS funds.
The employees of Rajya Sabha Secretariat have also decided to voluntarily contribute a day's salary to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for relief and rehabilitation of the victims in the affected areas of Uttarakhand.
