Opposition National Conference today attacked Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, saying he was repeatedly making excuses to veil his "colossal failure" to deliver on promises PDP made before being elected to power.
"The Chief Minister has made repeated attempts to put forth one excuse after another to hide his colossal failure to fulfil promises his party had made before coming to power in an alliance with BJP," NC spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said.
"When Mufti Sahab says he has been disappointed by the Modi Government, one begs to ask the obvious question - What stops Mufti Sahab from walking out of this coalition? He cannot have the cake and eat it too," he said.
Accusing PDP of abandoning the flood victims, he said the "pretence of victimhood won't help in absolving Mufti Sahab and PDP of their complicity in depriving the flood victims of justice and rehabilitation".
"On one hand we have PDP leaders who have been lying about looming economic packages and apparent release of funds from New Delhi since months and on the other hand we have the State's Chief Minister now melodramatically expressing his helplessness," he said.
"PDP's Faustian bargain with BJP and RSS has come at a very high cost. Today the State's special status is hanging by a thread as the Government is completely nonchalant about the PIL in the Supreme Court on Article 35-A that questions the constitutional legitimacy of Article 370," he added.
