Congress MLA from Uttam Nagar assembly constituency, Mukesh Sharma, today accused the BJP-run three municipal corporations of Delhi of failing to maintain cleanliness in unauthorised colonies.
"Festivals like Diwali, Chhat Puja, Bhai Dooz, Vishwakarma day and Guruparv are round the corner but no cleanliness drive by the three corporations in these (unauthorised) colonies has been undertaken, due to which heaps of garbage could be seen lying for days." he said.
Sharma, who also is spokesperson of Congress Legislative Party and parliamentary secretary to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, said this while addressing street corner meeting (nukkad sabha) during Vijay-Vishwas Yatra.
Threatening the MCD officials with public action like gherao if the situation does not changes, Sharma said "if the corporations don't wake up to ground reality, people would be compelled to gherao the corporations and their officials."
He also alleged nobody remains present in MCD's control room to listen to the people's complaint.
"The MCDs have failed to perform their basic function of maintaining cleanliness in the unauthorised colonies. While the common man was bearing the brunt of inefficiency of BJP-led corporations, its leaders were overlooking the deteriorating hygenic conditions in the city," he said.
Sharma met residents of A-1, A-2, Q, Q-1, A-3, Z block, Amar Shopping Centre, Jai Bharat Enclave, Mohan Garden A and B block besides Bindapur area during a padyatra.
