Mukherjee, Ansari extends birthday greeting to Karuna

President Pranab Mukherjee and his deputy M Hamid Ansari today extended their birthday greetings to DMK President M Karunanidhi, who turns 94 tomorrow.
"May God bless you with a happy and healthy life," Mukherjee said in his greetings to the DMK President.
In his greetings, Ansari told the DMK leader he prayed Lord Almighty to give good health and many more years of service "to the causes for which you have devoted your life."
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended his birthday greetings to the DMK leader and also felicitated Karunanidhi for serving as a legislator for 60 years.
He described Karunanidhi as a "man of many virtues," and hailed him for playing a key role in protecting the socio-economic and political rights of weaker sections of the society.

He "has been instrumental in establishing social justice," Patnaik said in his message sent to Karunanidhi's son and DMK Working President M K Stalin.
"He has also played a key role in the economic development of Tamil Nadu and (in) bringing reforms in governance and administration," he said and wished him a long and healthy life in the service of the nation.
