"Socialism and socialist ideologies are under threat, at present. I hope Mulayam Singh and Lalu Prasad to lead and assist the fight of socialism conceived by Pandit (Jawaharlal) Nehru in 1954-55, against the growing capitalist system," Singh said at a book release function here.
Agreeing with what Singh said, RJD chief Lalu Prasad said that socialism will arrive in the country and emphasised on the need to bring the people on the margins to the mainstream of the society.
The leaders were speaking at the release of senior Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Gopal Yadav's book 'Sangharsh Ke Prayog'.
The book was released by Vice President Hamid Ansari who said that the issues raised by Yadav in the book will exist in the coming years and any decision on them should be taken with much care.
"These issues will exist in coming years and whatever decisions are reached on those issues in democracy, should be after giving them a proper thought," Ansari said.
Parliament witnesses noisy scenes but its different image is emerged when it devotes itself to serious business, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, said referring to Ram Gopal's addresses in the House.
"I want to say an important thing. Parliament witnesses noisy scenes and angry exchanges of words. But when it does serious business its another mature image is created," Prasad said.
"I want to ask media that they show the disturbance in Parliament a lot but how much they show the good deliberations in it. They should also show how good discussions in Parliament then the people will see that the country is marching ahead."
The function was also attended by Ram Gopal's elder brother and Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, Congress leader Oscar Fernandese, and CPI leader Atul Kumar Anjan among others.
