The Mumbai Film and Comics Convention attracted over 20,000 patrons from all age groups over the weekend of October 20-21 at World Trade Centre in Cuffe Parade here.
The Comic Con was organised last year October. The company, this year, decided to combine Mumbai's love for films and the tremendous response to the first Comic Con, this time.
The event, orgnised by Comic Con India had stalls exhibiting, promoting and selling comics, graphic novels, merchandise etc. There were screenings, previews, panels from Indian and international films; workshops and interactive sessions happening every half hour at the dedicated stage area. The two-day convention also saw some exclusive launches of comic book titles, book signings and competitions.
Jatin Varma, founder, Comic Con India said, “We are extremely happy with the response we are getting from the fans. Comic Con India is becoming widely popular and we are getting a lot of fan mails from across cities. We look forward to visiting a new city next year other than Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.”
The two day fest saw an interactive panel discussion with IRock films on youth oriented films. There was a Retrospective Panel on 30 years of “Jaane bhi do yaaron” with director Kundan Shah. The pioneers of India's comic book revolution – Amar Chitra Katha, took a special session on their feature film “Sons of Ram– Heroes will Rise”, with the voice cast and creative team behind the film.
Also, there was a sneak peek of Warner Bros India’s upcoming film - The Hobbit & Man of Steel, and a special preview of “The Sixth”, the animated series by Vimanika Comics and Maya Animation.
