Bangladesh Test discards came a cropper as Mumbai registered a thumping eight-wicket win in a low-scoring affair in the CAB SK Acharya Memorial Challenger Trophy one-day tournament here today.
Mumbai pacer Shradul Thakur (4/35) made full use of the JU second campus seaming wicket to be the wrecker-in-chief as BCB XI were skittled out for 138 in 41 overs after they were put in to bat.
Anamul Haque (0), Imrul Kayes (0) and Nasir Hossain (10) who were ignored for the ongoing Test series against Zimbabwe after their poor efforts against the West Indies, struggled against some quality seam bowling by Mumbai.
Wilkin Mohta (2/22) and Saurabh Netravalkar (1/36) gave the initial breakthroughs before Thakur wreaked havoc, while all-rounder Abhishek Nayar, too, chipped in with an impressive 2/22 from his five overs.
Toss once again played a decisive role at the JU second campus track as Mumbai never had any trouble posting the big win.
Mumbai comfortably chased down the paltry target as Bravish Shetty (22) and Sushant Marathe (22) put on 43 runs for the opening wicket before wicketkeeper batsman Aditya Tare and Nayar saw them through with 17.5 overs to spare.
BCB XI face Karnataka tomorrow in the four-team CAB invitational tournament.
Brief Scores:
BCB XI: 138 all out in 41 overs (Mohammad Elias 40 not out; Shradul Thakur 4/35, Abhishek Nayar 2/22, Wilkin Mota 2/22) lost to Mumbai 130 for 2 in 32.1 overs (Aditya Tare 55 not out, Abhishek Nayar 24 not out) by two wickets.
