Vivek Panditrao Bhamre was caught accepting the bribe at his residence here at Bhusawal in this North Maharashtra district from a shopkeeper who who had been running his business from a place rented out by the council, said Parag Sonawane, Deputy Superintendent of Police (ACB).
Bhamre demanded Rs 5,000 from the shopkeeper for renovating his outlet without permission from the civic body, the ACB said.
The shopkeeper lodged a complaint with the Jalgaon unit of ACB, which laid a trap and caught the engineer.
