Murder accused escapes from police custody in Jammu

A man accused of killing a person in R S Pura border belt of Jammu district escaped from the police custody but was rearrested on Friday, police said.

Sanjeev Kumar, of Chak Agra, was in police remand in connection with the killing of a villager and escaped from the custody, they said.

A case was registered at Police station R S Pura and disciplinary proceedings were also initiated against the erring officials, they added.

Immediately, several teams were deputed to trace the accused and he has now been apprehended, they added.
