According to SSP Umesh Kumar Singh, Chand (22) of village Karora under Pahasu Police station was arrested on Sunday from Allahabad for murder of his brother's wife.
Instead of sending the accused to jail, he was kept in police lock-up since Sunday without any entry in the records, Singh said.
The accused was found hanging last night in his cell with a rope made from his blanket when the sentry went to serve him food, the SSP added.
