Jashwant Savani was in judicial custody for the past two months for allegedly killing his business partner by pushing him from the 12th floor of a building on Varachha road here.
Police today submitted the charge sheet in the case against Savani and his co-accused Raju Shinde.
The charge sheet was to be served to them and they were brought to the sessions court for the same.
"While the production of both the accused was pending in the courtroom, located on 6th floor, Savani requested to visit the rest room to attend the nature's call and when he was being taken there with police escorts, he suddenly jumped," said a police official.
A junior advocate, Ishwar Vasava, also sustained severe injuries as Savani fell on him.
Vasava was immediately rushed to a local Mission Hospital, official sources said.
Investigation was on to ascertain the reason behind Savani's action, police said.
