Devnath Ladkya Urade was nabbed by Crime Branch of Thane Police from the jungles of tribal-dominated Vikramgadh taluka near here, Senior Inspector Kishore Khairnar said and claimed the murder case has now been solved.
The 38-year-old was taken into custody during a routine combing operation launched by the police to round up anti-social elements ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
It later emerged Urade was part of a group of villagers who had attacked one Sadanand Tanha Garel, a resident of Palsai village in Vasai taluka, with sickle and iron rods, killing him on the spot on December 18, 2002. A minor tiff had led to the murder, he said.
