On the demand of family members of deceased constable Achhar Ram, who succumbed to bullet injuries on way to a hospital last evening, police registered a case of murder against Balwant Singh, father-in-law of IG Administration Kuldip Singh and his sons Harjodh Singh and Kultar Singh.
Ram got three bullet injuries two of which were in his chest and one in the arm.
His family members assembled at the local civil hospital and demanded registration of a case against Balwant Singh and his two sons for their alleged attempt to implicate constable Ram in a false case of theft and killing him.
They alleged that Balwant Singh and his sons levelled theft charges on Ram for which he was being interrogated since June 27.
SSP Balkar Singh Sidhu told reporters here that Balwant Singh and his sons were still at large. Raids were being conducted to nab them.
