BurlingtonEnglish - Muthoot signs MoU for online marketing

Aiming to enter the Indian retail market, Netherlands-headquartered BurlingtonEnglish and Muthoot Holiday, an arm of the Muthoot group, have signed an MoU for marketing online English language teaching engine.

This is the first time BurlingtonEnglish is entering the Indian retail market. The aim is to first concentrate on southern states, Eric Cohen, BurlingtonEnglish CEO, told reporters here.

Burlington is one of Europe's largest and most respected publishers of English language teaching material with over two million students learning English from its books, digital books, multimedia programmes and speech training software.

Burlington sells products to various corporates, including Wipro and some universities. The company is taking its products to the Indian market for the first time with the tie-up, and aims to help increase employable opportunities.

There are plans to do an all India speech engine and it will come out soon, he said, adding while presently it is available in eight languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Urdu, the company was looking for couple of other languages also.

Muthoot Executive Director K Padmakumar said this would help employment enhancement and help students communicate better.

Muthoot will market the BurlingtonEnglish products in Kerala. The course fee is Rs 5,450 for 180 hours, he said.

Courses of nurses, bank employees, care givers, doctors and those in the legal progession.

There are also plans to come out with a programme specifically for school and research in this regard was on, he added.

Muthoot Holidays is the youngest company of the Muthoot Group concentrating in the business of leisure, Travel, Educational Tours and MICE.
