Mutilated carcass of calf found near Durgiana temple

A mutilated carcass of a calf was found close to the famous Durgiana temple here today, police said.
After the headless carcass of the calf was found near the temple, various Hindu outfits in the holy city came out on roads to protest.
On being contacted, Deputy Commissioner of Police Parmapal said that the carcass was found and probably the bovine had been attacked by some big animal which attempted to smash it.
On the protest by various Hindu outfits, he said it would be wrong to say that someone has mischievously beheaded the animal.
The DCP, however, said that an FIR has been lodged under section 429 IPC (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc) and sent the body for autopsy to find out the exact cause behind its death.

"The preliminary reports indicate that there was no sharp cut on the neck of animal which further indicate that it might have been attacked by some big animal," he said.
