Bhandare is scheduled to leave the state tomorrow after completing nearly five years and seven months in the office of the Governor. His successor S C Jamir is scheduled to arrive here on Tuesday, Raj Bhavan sources said.
Describing his days in the state as "most memorable", Bhandare said "I have all along tried to make people of Odisha happy but they have made me happier".
He further said he toured all 30 districts every year during his tenure to get close to people. He admitted he enjoyed a full life in Odisha.
Empowerment of women and tribal development are his two other priorities, he pointed out. He further said he acted as guardian of every one in the state and looked after their wellbeing.
"Life is not full when you do for yourself, Life is full when you think of others and when you have time for others," an emotional Bhandare said in his final message to the people of Odisha.
