Nagaland to have Tourist Police soon

Nagaland will soon have Tourist Police to help tourists and and ensure their safety, a top police officer said Saturday.

Director General of Police T John Longkumer said Nagas are known for the hospitality and introduction of Tourist Police will be reinventing the rich tradition and culture of receiving the guest with added safety and security for tourist.

"Let us show to the world that we care for tourists and ensure their safety and memorable stay in Nagaland," he said.

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will formally launch Tourist Police on November 23, officials said.

Additional Director Tourism, Akhale Vizol said Nagaland will be the second state in the north east to launch tourist police.

Dwelling on the need of Tourist Police, IGP (Range), Sonia Singh said that introduction of Tourist Police is to provide a safe and secured environment for the tourists.

The tourist police will be deployed in railway station and Airport in Dimapur, Chumukedima Check Gate and 12 sectors in Kohima, she informed
