Party president and former deputy Jharkhand chief minister Sudesh Mahto welcomed Nagmani and inducted into his party.
"Nagmani has a long political experience and his joining our party will strengthen it," Mahto said.
Nagmani, who had been member in RJD, JD(U) and BJP in the past, had represented the Chatra Lok Sabha twice. He had recently resigned from NCP.
Prior to joining AJSU, he was heading the Bihar unit of Sharad Pawar-led NCP and was looking after Jharkhand affairs of the party.
Nagmani, son of Jagdev Prasad, a legendary firebrand leader of backward castes in Bihar, had served in almost all parties including Congress, BJP, JD(U), RJD and LJP.
The AJSU nominated Loknath Mahto to contest from Hazaribagh while Tirkey will be in contention from Khunti LS seat.
