The Delhi High Court was today told that a plea for changing the name of Arjan Garh metro station to Aya Nagar cannot be allowed as it was a policy decision of the AAP government.
A bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice Jayant Nath was also informed that a decision regarding it was pending for confirmation before the minister concerned.
"On change of name, the decision has already been taken. Now change is not possible," Delhi government's counsel said.
The counsel further stated that the decision was taken after two different meetings held this year.
He also said that if the meeting was to be organised again on the same issue, it would cost around Rs six crore.
Advocate Jatan Singh, appearing for DMRC, also said that entire system has to be changed including signalling system, telecoms, fare collection system and station display system.
Hearing which the court said that it will consider all aspects and pass the order.
The court was hearing a plea filed by a person named Ved Pal who said that over one lakh residents of Aya Nagar were facing problem due to the existing name of the metro station.
Seeking change in the name, he said the bus stands and public transports ran and operated in the name of Aya Nagar, while the municipal corporation office was also named likewise.
The Arjan Garh Metro Station is located on the Yellow Line of the Delhi Metro en route to Gurgaon. It was opened for public on June 21, 2010.
