Corps Commander of Peshawar Lt General Hidayatur Rehman publicaly burnt the seized narcotics at a ceremony in Shakus area of Khyber Agency in the presence of senior law enforcement officers, leaders and media, the army said in a statement.
The price of the drugs is said to be approximately USD 58.6 million in the international market, it said.
72,716 kg hashish, 117 kg heroin, 389 kg opium, 950 bottles of liquor and seven kg chemicals were seized during Khyber-I and II operations launched by the military in Khyber tribal region as part of its stepped-up efforts to eliminate militants.
Khyber is one of Pakistan's seven semi-autonomous regions governed by tribal laws and lies near the Afghan border.
