The administration has alerted people living on the banks of river, since more water is likely to be released after the catchment areas recieved a good rainfall, Nashik irrigation department's executive engineer Sunil Bafna said.
Gangapur dam, which has a capacity of 5630 million cubic feet (mcft) is filled up with water upto 5386 mcft, which is 95.6 per cent of its capacity, sources said.
The Darna dam also had to release 2850 cusecs of water after it got filled up to 97.1 per cent of its capacity.
In a related development, the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) began supplying drinking water twice a day from yesterday, after a satisfactory rainfall, NMC sources said today.
