"These scholarships for players' performances are a reward to players who have played for the country or have finished in top three in their respective events at the national and state level," said Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association's secretary Sunder Iyer during the function.
MSLTA also conducted over 126 tournaments covering all age groups, apart from six international events, giving it the honour of a state association organising the highest number of tournaments in the country last year, he added.
Appreciation awards were presented to the Cricket Club of India, Navi Mumbai Sports Association, Deccan Gymkhana, Endurance Marathwada MSLTA Tennis Center and Pune Metropolitan District Tennis Association for their contribution in conducting international tennis events in the state.
