NATO convoy attacked in northwest Pakistan
Press Trust of India Peshawar Suspected militants today targeted a NATO convoy in the Khyber tribal region of northwest Pakistan, critically injuring four drivers, officials said.
The NATO convoy comprising 25 trucks returning from Afghanistan was attacked close to the border.
The injured drivers were taken to Hayatabad Medical Complex in Peshawar.
The attackers managed to escape. Officials of the local political administration and security forces rushed to the site and launched a search operation.
However no arrest has been made so far.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack but similar incidents in the past were the handiwork of the banned Pakistani Taliban.
Taliban and Al Qaeda elements frequently launch attacks across northwestern Pakistan and the lawless tribal belt, considered one of the most dangerous places in the world.
