Mamata, a girl from Bankual village close to Bhitarkanika National Park of Rajnagar block in Kendrapara district on April 4, had displayed exceptional courage and alertness to rescue her sister Asanti from a crocodile attack. Her bravery had made the tiny girl famous overnight.
Patnaik invited both the sisters to the State Secretariat, felicitated them and also took selfie with the girls.
The chief minister also enquired about the incident and heaped praise on Mamata. Both the sisters are now studying in class two.
Patnaik also gifted two bicycles to both the sisters.
