A Naxal was today killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Chhattisgarh's insurgency-hit Sukma district, police said.
The skirmish took place this afternoon in a dense patch of forest under Fulbagdi police station limits, Inspector General of Police (Bastar range) SRP Kalluri said.
A joint team of District Reserve Group (DRG) of police and Special Task Force (STF) came under heavy fire from ultras which led to the gun-battle, he said.
After the firing stopped, body of a male Maoist, clad in uniform, along with a .303 rifle and some other items was recovered from the spot, the IG said.
Further details were awaited as the anti-Naxal operation was still underway in the region, located around 450 km from the state capital Raipur, he added.
