Naxals killed panchayat secretary of Karnipal village in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh, suspecting him to be a police informer, police said today.
"Lakhpati Dansena was beaten to death by rebels at Karramal village in Baramkela area last night," Raigarh Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhagat told PTI.
According to villagers, around a dozen armed ultras abducted Dansena (47) late on Saturday night from his house in Karramal, around 45 km from Raigarh, and beat him to death at the village 'chaupal' (public square), the SP said.
They left a note stating that the panchayat secretary was killed because he was a police informer.
