Naxals torch two JCB machines engaged in cable-laying work

Naxals today set on fire two JCB machines engaged in cable wire laying work in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, police said.
The incident took place near Mankeli village under Kotwali police station limits of the district, a local police official told PTI.
Underground telephone cable wire laying work of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is underway between Bijapur-Mankeli, located in the dense forest around 4 kms away from Bijapur town, he said.
A group of armedNaxalsstormed thereand after threatening the workers to leave the place, theytorchedtwo JCB machinesengaged in the work, he said.
Aftercommitting the crime, the Maoists fled into the forest, he added.
On getting information, a police team rushed to the spot and launched a combing operation to nab the ultras, he said.
