Terming the ruling NC-Congress government as the most "anti-people" regime in the history, opposition PDP today said there was no count of scandals that had taken place in the state during its tenure.
"The ruling coalition would be remembered as the most anti-people regime in the history where people were deprived of full ration to their families and had been made to pay hefty amounts for non-existent power supplies," said PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti while addressing a rally in Ramban district.
"There is no count of scandals that have taken place during the present regime.
"Instead of providing good, corruption-free governance to the people, the present government was busy in looting the state to build huge assets within and outside the state.
"Well-founded accusations have been made against the highest political authorities of the state including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Farooq Abdullah and many ministers," she alleged.
"In a state where thousands of quintals of ration meant for the poor disappears, where money meant for providing cricket facilities to budding players is stolen, where examination papers are sold for lakhs and jobs are sold, what options are left with the people except agitation."
The opposition leader also accused the NC of "thriving on violence" and looking for ways to turn situation ugly in Kashmir for electoral benefits.
"NC is thriving on violence as they know people are not with them anymore and it is now looking for ways to turn the situation ugly because it suits them (in elections),"
"This combination has vested interest in instability of J&K that is why the two have done everything to force the people, especially the youth, to agitate whether on human rights violations or for issues like jobs, power, water and road," she said.
