Hitting out at the Shiv Sena- ruled local civic body for allegedly under declaring number of potholes in the city, the NCP on Thursday announced the launch of its "Mumbai has become hub of potholes" campaign.

Mumbai NCP chief Nawab Malik alleged the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), in response to an RTI query recently, replied that there were only 400 to 500 potholes on city roads.

Malik claimed the number could well be around 25,000.

"Under the campaign 'Mumbai Ban Gayi Khadde Ka Adda' NCP workers will post photos of potholes on Twitter, tagging the BMC. They will also keep track of how many potholes were repaired and how many not," Malik told reporters here.

Urging citizens to be part of the initiative, Malik said the campaign will continue till all the potholes in the financial capital were repaired.

He said NCP workers will stage protest in case the BMC did not fill potholes.
