NCP's proposed 'jail bharo' stir for farmers a lip service:BJP

The opposition NCP's forthcoming 'jail bharo' agitation on the issue of drought in Marathwada is aimed at expanding the party base in the region and lacks genuine concern for farmers, Maharashtra BJP president Raosaheb Danve said here today.
"NCP has no concern for farmers and their sufferings due to drought. NCP's agitation is only aimed at expanding its base in that region," Danve said.
As per the programme scheduled for September 14, NCP workers and leaders would court arrest to highlight the plight of farmers.
Taking a dig at the Sharad Pawar-led party, Danve said, "Had the NCP taken appropriate measures during its 15-year-old rule to overcome drought, it would not have needed to stage any such agitation."

Danve was speaking to reporters at Circuit House here after addressing party workers on the concluding day of their training camp.
Refuting the Congress' charge that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has embarked on a tour to Japan despite parts of the state reeling under drought, Danve said, "the CM first toured the drought-hit Marathwada region before flying to Japan."

He accused the Congress of using Dalit community only for the vote bank politics and not paying due respect to their icon Babasaheb Ambedkar.
"Whereas Fadnavis will unveil the statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar there (in Japan)," he added.
Danve reiterated that the BJP government is pro-farmer and will ensure that no needy farmer is deprived of crop loan.

"The government has resolved to lodge criminal proceedings against banks refusing to sanction crop loans to farmers. This government has reconstituted farmers' loans and about 70 per cent farmers have received crop loans. The rest will also get the loan," he said in reply to a query.
Informing that the BJP is observing 2015 as "Sanghatan Varsh", Danve said," In the first phase, we registered 1.05 crore members, then we held 'Maha-sampark Abhiyan' and now over 700 training camps (for workers) are organised across State. In the next phase, we will hold organisational polls. Our attempt is to expand the party base to the village level.
