NCP students' wing stages protest against demonetisation

Claiming demonetisation has hit the student community hard and led to financial emergency, the students' wing of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) today staged a protest here and asked the Centre to offer free transport services and education until the problem caused by the move is resolved.
"The current situation is no less than financial emergency... It is the students who are suffering the most due to demonetisation. They need to travel daily. Hence, we demand the government give us free transport facility and education services until the problem created by demonetisation is resolved," National Students' Congress (NSC) president Dheeraj Sharma said at Jantar Mantar here.

Sharma accused the NDA government of coming up with laws which are "predominantly anti-students" during its two-and-a-half-year tenure. He claimed the condition of the student community has turned from bad to worse in the period.
The protesters also raised placards to highlight misery and hardships faced by common people following the withdrawal of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 currency notes from circulation, according to NSC spokesperson Akash Zambare.
