Accusing the ruling BJP of not keeping its pre-poll promise of giving two crore jobs a year, the NCP's youth wing in Maharashtra on Wednesday staged a protest outside the state secretariat here.
Members of the opposition party's youth wing, led by its Maharashtra unit head Mehboob Sheikh, said the BJP had made the promise in the run-up to the 2014 Lok Sabha polls.
"The promise made by the ruling party about providing jobs has vanished into thin air," Sheikh said.
"The youth in Maharashtra feels worried for want of jobs, but the Chief Minister (Devendra Fadnavis) is busy in planning campaign rallies.
"Hence, we staged a protest outside the state secretariat to condemn this approach," Sheikh said.
He was referring to the 'Mahajanadesh Yatra' (mega mandate march) Fadnavis will embark upon on Thursday from Amravati in view of the Maharashtra Assembly polls due by the year-end.
The NCP youth wing's Maharashtra working presidents Ravikant Varpe and Suraj Chavan also participated in the protest.
