National general secretary of CITU Tapan Sen said the union government was destroying the public sector through privatisation and contract appointments and has already privatised defence productions and set in motion the process to privatise the railways which is a serious matter.
The Rajya Sabha member Sen, who was here to participate in the three day meeting of CITU executive, alleged that 43 lakh posts are lying vacant which the government is trying to fill on contractual basis while it was taking the ordinance route to benefit the corporate sector.
He also attacked the Centre on the GST and said that it has snatched the right of the states government to levy taxes and the most hit is the small trader.
