NDFB (Songbijit) militant Saranjoy Musahary, a suspect in the massacre of 80 tribals in Kokrajhar last year, was apprehended by a joint team of police and CRPF from Patabari in lower Assam's Chirang district.

Saranjoy alias Soukhou of Gajenpuri was apprehended yesterday from Patabari by a joint team of Assam Police and CRPF's Cobra battalion, IGP L R Bishnoi told PTI.

He is suspected to be involved in the massacre of over 80 'adivasis' in Lungsung forest area in Kokrajhar district in December last year, Bishnoi said.

A grenade was recovered from the extremist trained in the insurgent camps based in Myanmar.

Bishnoi said Musahary had joined NDFB(S) in 2012 and belonged to the 37th batch of the underground outfit.
