According to an official release by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), 2,36,349 people are currently staying in 118 relief camps in Kokrajhar, Sonitpur, Chirang and Udalguri districts.
"The number of relief camps and camp inmates continued to decrease during the past 24 hours as anticipated. In last 24 hours, 10 camps were closed down in three districts of Udalguri, Sonitpur and Kokrajhar," it said.
At present, nearly 2 lakh people are staying at 81 relief camps in Kokrajhar, 30,000 in 23 camps in Chirang, 6,000 in six camps in Sonitpur and 3,500 in 8 camps in Udalguri, the release said.
Altogether 81 people, including 26 women and 18 infants, were killed since December 23 evening in serial attacks by NDFB(S) terrorists, retaliatory violence and police firing across four districts.
