In a letter to Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh, Sanjoy pleaded for introduction of an "effective mechanism" to regulate air fares for domestic travel with special emphasis to the sectors of the NER, official sources said here today.
The MP said the sudden spurt in air fares comes at a time when there was a huge flow of students from the region to different parts of the country for admission purposes.
"I seek your urgent intervention to check this phenomenon by introducing an effective and transparent mechanism to regulate air fares for domestic travel," he said
Sanjoy said the price structure (air fares) should be devised in such a manner so as to safeguard the overall interests of all the stakeholders including those of the NER, sources added.
