Training her guns on this week's Hero Women's Indian Open title, young Indian golfer Vani Kapoor today said she will need to reign in her mistakes by being more precise with her shots when the event begins at the DLF Golf & Country Club here on Friday.
The 21-year-old said she is thinking a lot about placing her shots.
"It's a tough course and you ought to be precise to eliminate mistakes and I believe by executing these two factors I will be able to return with a good score," she said.
With her home close to the course, Vani is not on a unfamiliar territory. "Oh! I need the support from my fans, locals and more importantly my parents Sanjeev Kapoor and mum Asha Kapoor.
"It spurs me on, gives me the boost and enhances my confidence level. But I must reiterate that I'm never nervous."
From South City 1, in Gurgaon, Vani's approach is going to be one stroke at a time. "I want to take charge of the course and not allow the course make things difficult for me."
Having won four events and seven times runner-up on the domestic circuit - Women's Tour of India - Vani reveals that the achievement shows her prowess and it probably explains why she has been playing well.
A graduate in psychology and sociology, Vani, who spends her off-course activities listening to music, meeting up with friends and reading, has shed her temperamental behaviour on the course for one that offers more positive results.
"It has helped me a lot and I hope to have a good week and vow not disappoint the local supporters," she says.
