There is need to provide some support to tourism sector which is affected by coronavirus pandemic, BJP member Rajiv Pratap Rudy said in Lok Sabha on Monday.
Globally, he said, many countries have provided relief to the sector hit by coronavirus pandemic.
For example, Germany has provided 40 billion euro relief to tourism sector, he said during the debate on Demand for Grants 2020-21 for the Ministry of Tourism.
With regard to India, he suggested a GST holiday may be provided.
Besides, he said, the bank should provide moratorium with regard to interest payment on loan taken by firms in the sector.
He expressed the fear that if the sector is not provided relief, it could lead to mayhem in the country.
