There is an urgent need to publish the list of all benefits available to the acid attack victims, the Delhi High Court has said.
Justice Vibhu Bakhru, while considering two petitions filed by two acid attack victims, also said that the publication of such a comprehensive paper would ensure that the acid attack victims are fully aware of the benefits available and do not have to approach the courts for relief.
"Let the comprehensive paper be prepared within a period of eight weeks and placed before this Court on the next date of hearing," the court said.
In the first petition, the victim, who was already compensated under the earlier Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme, 2011, sought its enhancement as per the Delhi Victims Compensation Scheme, 2015.
In terms of the 2015 scheme, the victims of acid attack who are dependent due to the extent of injury suffered, are entitled to compensation of a maximum of a sum of Rs 7 lakh.
The court asked the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) to ascertain the compensation payable to the victim in terms of the 2015 Scheme.
The court, while considering the second plea which sought employment for the victim, said the petitioner (victim) would also qualify for employment under the quota reserved for persons with disabilities.
