Steel magnate Sajjan Jindal today said India needs to safeguard the industries of strategic importance from external threats, as is being done by other nations.

The comment comes against the backdrop of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's China visit for a two-day informal summit with President Xi Jinping.

"PM Modi's #China visit is bound to be a historical one. All nations globally are protecting the industries that are of strategic importance to their nation & we must ensure that all such industries within India are safeguarded & protected from external threats," Jindal said in a tweet.

Modi and the Chinese President today began talks at an unprecedented two-day informal summit at Wuhan, China during which they will have a series of one-on-one conversations focussing on bilateral, global and regional issues.
