According to police, the incident took place in the afternoon today when one Ram Swaroop went to the child's house and after taking her parents permission, he took the girl to his house for allegedly playing with her.
The incident came to light when Swaroop was trying to rape the child and she started crying. Her mother rushed to the man's house after hearing her cries and saved.
Police said the woman immediately took the child to her house and made a call to the police control room and a team of officials reached the spot.
Swaroop is a vegetable vendor in the area. According to the police, he confessed his involvement in the crime and has been booked under the relevant sections of the POCSO Act. A case has been registered at Sagarpur police station.
