Acting Chief Justice Pradeep K. Mohanty administered the oath of office to the new judge, who was transferred here from Jharkhand High Court.
State law minister Arun Kumar Sahu, other judges of the High Court, Advocate General Surya Prasad Mishra and members of the bar along with many senior officers of the State government were present at the swearing-in ceremony held inside the premises of the HC.
With Justice Prasad's joining, the number of judges in Orissa High Court goes up to 19 against a sanctioned strength of 22. But this strength is going to be further reduced soon as Justice Biswanath Mohapatra is scheduled to retire on March 31 this year after serving as a judge since November 2007.
