Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today launched a new range of Markfed products like Instant Kesar Dalia, Honey Grits and Canned Mushrooms here today.
On the occasion, Badal appreciated the contribution of cooperative Markfed in the field of food processing sector and also for pioneering and introducing the innovative products at regular intervals for consumers as well as for Indian Diaspora.
Markfed's Instant Kesar Dalia and Honey Grits are not only wholesome meals but are also enriched with minerals, proteins and vitamins.
Financial Commissioner Cooperation S K Sandhu said owing to hectic lifestyle these days, a need had arisen to introduce a healthy, nutritious and enriched breakfast cereal as a balanced diet catering to the needs of kids as well as adults.
Both the products are an instant feast and can be readied for consumption in a minute, he said.
According to MD Markfed Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, mushroom cultivators from across the state had been urging the Chief Minister to impart directions to Markfed for canning of mushrooms which has great scope in domestic as well as in the international markets.
Subsequently, the Markfed initiated packing button mushrooms in-brine to cater to the huge market.
With canning of mushrooms through vacuum packing technology, mushrooms will be available to consumers throughout the year and their availability would also be unaffected amid fluctuations in price.
Canned mushrooms are one of the richest sources of natural vitamin 'D', he said.
