A new entertainment and news television venture in Malayalam, 'Flowers', will go on air early next year.
Sponsored by the Insight Media City India (Pvt ltd), the venture will be launching two channels. An entertainment channel will be launched in February from Kochi, followed by a news channel in April from Thiruvananthapuram.
The logo of the venture was released here today by its chairman Gokulam Gopalan, who heads the Gokulam Group of Companies, in the presence of leading NRI businessman Alungal Mohammad and other directors of the project.
Briefing reporters, Goapalan said the sole priority of the channel would be presenting news and views in an objective and honest manner and bring good, decent entertainment programmes to home audience.
Well-known television personality R Sreekantan Nair, a director of the company and head of programmes, said the venture by a group of Kerala and Gulf-based entrepreneurs, involved an investment of Rs 500 crore in the first phase and another Rs 200 crore in the subsequent phase.
An international college for media studies would also start functioning as part of the project in September.
Apart from media studies and training, the college located on a 27-acre campus near Kochi will have a film production division and world event centre.
