"A terrorist" approached border police and soldiers who were dealing with a riot in Silwad village, northwest of Ramallah, and "steered his vehicle at them, who managed to take cover behind a concrete barrier," a statement said.
"They opened fire at the terrorist... He was declared dead at the scene," the statement added, saying no Israelis were hurt.
This was the second such incident in two hours and the latest in a wave of violence that has claimed the lives of 121 on the Palestinian side, 17 Israelis, an American and an Eritrean since the start of October.
Earlier in the afternoon, a Palestinian driver tried unsuccessfully to run down Israeli security forces at Qalandiya checkpoint before he was shot, wounded and arrested, police said.
