Bad weather forced the first Twenty20 international between New Zealand and Sri Lanka to be abandoned without a ball being bowled in Pallekele today.
Heavy rain since early morning drenched the Pallekele International Stadium and forced the umpires to call off the match at 8.45 pm (1515 GMT) when the weather did not clear.
The second match is also scheduled to be played in Pallekele on Thursday.
The preceding one-day series was shared 1-1 with one match rained off.
