The 23-year-old singer says films are a medium where he would not have as much control over his decisions as he has on his music, reports FemaleFirst.
"I don't think I have the patience for it. There's a lot of waiting around. With music, you're doing it yourself and you feel like you're in more control," Horan says.
The "Slow Hands" singer says he likes being the "perfectionist" that he is.
Horan's former 1D co-singer, Styles is making his Hollywood acting debut with Christopher Nolan's war drama "Dunkirk", which releases July 21.
